Why didn't any of you tell me that Fall Out Boy is made of awesome and win and slash?
No, really.
I SERIOUSLY HAD NO IDEA.
A week ago, frontbits left From Under the Cork Tree in my car.
She left it on the passenger seat floor, next to some empty cigarette packs and my Freddie Kruger hoodie, and I did my best to ignore it.
See. The thing is, I live in the musical dark ages. I rarely go to shows, and I avoid the radio like the plague. This disconnect means I mostly dwell on my old Violent Femmes cassettes while praying Dropick Murphys never break up, but for the most part, I'm ok with that.
Of course, this means I'd never heard Fall Out Boy. Not a single, solitary song. I mean, I'd heard of them, in that I knew they were a reasonably successful pop-punk band, but I really only knew that much because pictures of Pete Wentz would occasionally pop up in a magazine I was flipping through. And -- much like the CD left to languish in my car -- I mostly ignored him, as well. The last time he turned up on ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif){kind=small}
ohnotheydidnt, I said 'well, I suppose he is kinda cute, if you like skinny guys in eyeliner and girlpants,' and kept scrolling.
I may have been a bit hasty.
Right. Back to the CD languishing in my car: like I said, I mostly ignored it. Occasionally, the snobby oldschool punk rock elitist inside me sneered at it, but yeah. I mostly ignored it.
Until two days ago, when I brought it in the house, because frontbits was coming over. And I put it in my computer's CD drive, on the off chance that it would be really, really bad, and I could take the piss.
Yeah, well. The joke was on me, apparently, because they are made of win.
THEY ARE MADE OF WIN, AND PATRICK STUMP'S MOUTH VOICE IS MADE OF WIN.
I realise he's about sixteen here, but good god. GOOD GOD. THAT MOUTH. It should be illegal. Actually, it was illegal when that picture was taken, but I'm ok with that.
